Workshop Themes:
These regular workshops aim at bringing scientists together in order to share experience and focus discussion on subjects of regional importance without loosing track of scientific problems of global importance.
The Lattakia workshop will focus primarily on three major themes of importance to the Mediterranean region as a whole: The Fisheries (Biology, Technology, and stock assessment), The Aquaculture and Aquatic environment.
Scientific Communications are expected to cover the following themes:
- Fisheries
- Fish stock assessment
- Fish biology and Fish disease
- Fishing technology
- Fish Biodiversity and conservation (sea water and freshwater)
- Country report
- Aquaculture:
- Country report
- Advanced technology in Aquaculture
- General problems
- Aquatic environment
- Impact of human activity
- Fish pollution
- Action and monitoring
- Relationship between the Tourism and Environment
Venue: The workshop will take place at Faculty of Agricultural engineering, Campus of Tishreen University , Lattakia, Syria during the period: 29-30 April 2003.
Official Language of the Workshop: The language of the workshop are English, French.
Presentation: The Workshop sessions will usually start by a keynote lecture covering one of the major themes of the workshop. Oral presentation should not exceed 20 minutes.
The Scientific Committee of the workshop will inform all first authors on the status of their submitted communication by the end Marsh.
All audio-visual aids will be will be available.
Registration: Participants attending the workshop must register.
Late registration will be accepted until end of February 2003.
A copy of abstract should be submitted before 1st March 2003, and complete communication should be submitted before the and March 31st 2003.

The Organizing Committee will provide participant, with accommodations, meals, local transportation, and a tour to Ougareet and interesting place in Syrian Coast.
Non registration fees for participant with accepted papers.
Accommodation: Special arrangement will be made with hotels located near the workshop venue. The details on accommodation will be circulated later.
Visa information: Participants requiring a visa to Syria are requested to make their own arrangement by contacting the Syrian Embassy in their respective countries. No visas will be issued upon arrival at Damascus International Airport.
Publication: The Organizing Committee will distribute the abstracts of all the communications before the start of the workshops. Arrangement are being made with the editorial Board of the Basel-Al Assad journal four engineering sciences to consider the major communications for publication.
