Abstract

Biopesticides as part of an essential component of integrated pest management systems is very promising and their importance cannot be overemphasise. In Estonia, the Law of Plant Protection regulates all plant protection actions and registration of plant protection products according to The Plant Protection Products Directive (91/414/EEC). Totally, 199 plant protection products, including 6 biopesticides are registered in Estonia. Commercial biopesticides NeemAzal-T/S, NeemAzal-T (a.i. azadirachtin, Trifolio M GmbH, Germany), Celaflor Sc?dlingsfrei Neem (a.i. azadirachtin, Celaflor GmbH and Co, Scottland), Neko (extracts from Pinus sp. oils, Tanacetum vulgare L., Salvia officinalis L., Lavendula angustifolia L., OY Neko AB, Finland) and Fitoverm (a.i. aversectin C, PharmBioMed, Russia) were tested in Estonian Agricultural University against greenhouse, field and forest pests. On the large pine weevil, Hylobius abietis L. (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) were tested the biopesticides TRF-002-Paint (i.e. quassin, Trifolio M GmbH) and Anupaan (Parnanetra Sanshodhanalay, India). NeemAzal-T, Celaflor Sch?dlingsfrei Neem, TRF-002-Paint and Anupaan are not registered in Estonia. The extracts of about 80 local plant species were tested against insect pests.
