Abstract

Urgent need appeared to utilizing scientific ways in the analysis and the planning for management of environmental problems to undertaking suitable decisions because of enormity of size of environmental problems which it gland of overlaps on high degree from the complexity and the traditional ways which depends on the self experience and the attempt became ineffective for decision maker. On the other hand so results of the decisions does not calculated and estimated correctly results damages and Losses and the compensation does not be possible.
Here importance of geographical information systems as one of the important employed tools in solving of the big and complicated problems and observation of solving and results afterwards. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) important tools in planning and management of environmental resources and conservative it from dangers of the polluting and the depletion and raising qualification their use, and studies of resulting from social and economic activities on resources.
big development of this technician accompaniment with increased and urgent need for management this resources through using this computer-based systems which account method for support of decision allows researchers and manufacturers of the politics and the environmental administrations to use different methods in the work.
This lecturer demonstrates some applications for management of environmental resources t in the Syrian coast using GIS where be possible Through using this systems: Evaluation environmental risks and effects observation of polluting, environmental planning and management ,water recourses management , administration of general waters utilities ,solid waste management and environmental disasters management (earthquakes, hurricanes, oil spills….Etc) just as be possible also through the use of the GIS creating of the relation between the environmental changes and spread of the illness
data-collecting from the different sources was complete and entering it in GIS for the sake of integrated coast modeling which facilitate operations of the analysis and formation of proposed alternatives and development of powers in domain of researching and planning and management of waters , agriculture , environment and decision making.
Creating digital maps established through conversion of traditional paper maps (Syrian general surveying maps of study area- scale 1/50000) into vectorized GIS data layers.
Using "heads-up" digitizing which contains the following layers: administration boundaries, , roads, rivers, residential locations , landuse, meteorological stations , different observations, points in basin . The lecture demonstrates collection of applications usinge GIS in Syrian coastal basin:
1 -Studying the relation between the environmental changes and spread of leishmaniosis disease in Lattakia Mouhafaza.
2 -Management of the water resources in costal basin
3 - Precipitation maps for costal basin.
4 - Environmental impact assessment studies using GIS for some development projects in the costal basin.
