The effect of temperature and food on the egg production
of the planktonic copepod Temora stylifera

Abstract
Egg production rates of Temora stylifera were studied at a shore station in NE Mediterranean Sea from June to October 2002. The relationships between egg production rates and carbon, nitrogen, protein and chlorophyll-a concentrations of seston and temperature were examined. Mean egg production rates ranged between 52.3 (in June) and 1.1 eggs female-1 day-1 (in August). Correlation analysis indicated that, the egg production rates of T. stylifera mostly depended on the temperature, phytoplankton concentration and nutritional status of females in NE Mediterranean.
