Abstract

The study was conducted in order to know the cereal aphids and their natural enemies in AL-Jabel AL-Akhdar region (north east of Libya). The data registered Rhopalosiphum padi , Schizaphis graminum , Sitobion avenae also their presence and distribution on the different location of the area of the study was showed. The natural enemies were the predators Coccinella septempunctata , Chrysopid species and the parasitoids Diaeretiella rapae and Aphidius matricariae. Role of the predator C. septempunctata in biological suppressing of cereal aphids showed that the eggs last 2-3 days and the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th larval instars were lasted 3,2,2,4 days, respectively, the pupal stage lasted 8 days at the room temperature. The adult predator consumed 46.13 aphids, while the larva consumed 26.9 aphids daily. Also, the data showed that there was no significant difference in the predation efficacy during 1st and 2nd weeks of the life span of adult predator and the 4 larval instars.
