Abstract
The relationship between temperature changes and developmental period for the parasitoid Encarsia formosa (Gahan), and the green house white fly, Trialeurodes vaporariorum (West.) and the tobacco white fly, Bemisia tabaci (Genn.) was studied under laboratory conditions. The results indicated that the developmental period for each of the parasitoid and its hosts was significantly affected by temperature changes. The developmental period per days for the white fly T. vaporariorum reached 67. 23, 19 days under the temperatures of 20.9. 26.4. 33.5°C, respectively. The developmental period for the parasitoid E. formosa introduced to T. vaporariorum from the egg stage until the adult stage were 46, 21, 13 days under the temperatures of 19.6. 24.5, 27.2°C, respectively. Meanwhile, the developmental period of B. tabaci was 80. 22, 15 days, under the temperatures of 18.8, 25.9, 35.4°C, respectively. Also the developmental period for the parasitoid E. formosa in B. tabaci from the egg stage until the adult stage were 49. 20, 18 days, under the temperatures of (18.8, 24.5, 34.3°C, respectively. It was found that the optimal temperature for E. formosa development under laboratory conditions was 27°C, where the developmental period for the parasitoid lasted 13 days on T. vaporariorum. |
