Abstract
The secondary effect for three insecticides used to control the cotton insect pests has been studied: 1- Insect Growth Regulator (IGR): Diflubenzuron (Dimilin). 2- Carbamide Insecticide (traditional): Carbaryl (Seven). 3- Water extract from fruits of Azedarach tree: Melia azedarach L. 4- Check (Water-treated only). Three concentrations of each insecticide in four replications were used versus the egg parasitoid Trichogramma principium West. in two immature stages: - Egg stage (less than one hour) - Pupal stage (10 days old, Temperature 23o C) Effects varied according to the insecticide and concentration used as well as the parasitoid stage. This study clarified that the least recorded effect during the pupal stage was by the fruit water extract of Azedarach tree followed by the Diflubenzuron. The Carbaryl killed all the parasitoid immature stages, especially in the newly laid eggs inside the alternative host Ephestia kuehniella Zeller eggs. |
