Abstract
The citrus mealybug Planococcus citri is one of the major pests of
grapevine in Tunisia. For the control of this pest, an encyrtid parasite,
Leptomastix dactylopii (How.) was introduced in 2001. The parasite was
mass reared on Planococcus citri under laboratory conditions and released in
vineyards where mealybug infestation on trunks was 83.6%. The release was
repeated every 15 days during June, July and August corresponding to the major
activity of Planococcus citri. After release, the parasitism rate of
Leptomastix dactylopii was particularly high in autumn period, reaching
57.58 % in august and reaching 93.26% in October, on the third larvae instar and
females of P. citri. In winter, there was no more mealybug specimens in the
treated area.
