Abstract
Biological control of agricultural pests using spider species has a good
potential to overcome problems associated with the use of chemical pesticides.
In this study, the life cycle of Theridion egyptium (Theriddidae) was
investigated when reared on the cotton leaf worm Spodoptera littoralis (Boisd).
The duration of the life cycle was 41.9 and 40.7 days at 26±2 C and 60-70% R.H.
for females and males, respectively. The food consumption of females and males
was 161.1 and 156.4 individuals, respectively, when fed on cotton leaf worm,
S. littoralis. |
