Effect Of Soil Solarization With Different Plastic ýSheets On Growth And Production Of Cucumber Plants ýUnder Greenhouse Conditionsýýý

Abstract
Soil solarization with different plastic sheets; one and two layers of ýtransparent plastic, one layer of black plastic and other control treatments were ýcarried out under greenhouse conditions. Results showed that soil solarization with ýplastic sheets reduced root knot nematode (Meloidogyne spp.) population ýand annual and perennial weeds, especially Bermuda grass Cynodon ýdactylon, in addition to reduction of fungal population in the soil, including ýýAspergillus spp. and Penicillium ssp. These effects significantly ýincreased plant growth, flowering and yield of cucumber.ý
