Abstract
A new and promising resistance source in barley against powdery mildew
ııErysiphe graminis f. sp. hordei and leaf rust Puccinia
ıhordei was successfully selected under artificial epiphytotic conditions
during ımany seasons. The resistance reaction of this source (H–7020) was close
to ıimmunity, as there were no symptoms produced on the plants neither at the
seeding ıstage in the growth room nor at adult stage under field conditions.
Recently, this ısource was used in crossing programs to study the inheritance
nature of disease ıresistance and to develop barley lines with multiple disease
resistance (powdery ımildew, rust, covered smut and stripe diseases).ı
