A Study On Microbial Spoilage Of Some Local Dates

Abstract
The study involved isolation and identification of microorgansims causing ýmicrobial spoilage of Iraqi dates. Samples of some dry and soft dates such as Al-ýKustawi, Al-Berhi and Al-Zuhdi were collected. Morphological, physiological and ýbiochemical tests were conducted to identify the isolated microorganisms. The ýresults showed that spoilage of soft dates is associated with Lactobacillus ýand Streptococcus whereas, Micrococcus and Bacillus ýwere associated with dry dates. In addition, Saccharomyces rouxii and ýýcandida sp. were associated with spoiled soft and dry dates.ý
