Fungi Associated With Khamedj Disease

Abstract
The cultivation of date palm is facing many problems world-wide. Among the
most important ones are fungal diseases, which cause serious damage to the plant
and reduces its productivity. In Algeria, the khamedj disease comes in the
second place after the Bayoud, due to the considerable losses it causes. The
purpose of the present study was to isolate and identify fungi associated with
Khamedj disease, using the appropriate methods. The identified pathogenic fungi
are the following: Mauginiella scaettae, Fusarium moniliforme, Fusarium
solani, Memnoniella sp., Botrytis aclada, Trichothecium roseum and Acremonium
strictum.
