Abstract

Reproduction characteristics such as sex ratio, length at first maturity, sex inversion, spawning period, and fecundity of the striped sea bream habitated in were analyzed. The overall male to female ratio was 1.09 and sex inversion occurred at lengths between 11.2 and 22.9 cm. Males were observed up to a length of 22.8 cm. Reproductive activity of the species in the Bay of ?skenderun took place between April and August, with greatest intensity in May and June. Lengths at first maturity were calculated as 13.4 cm for males and 13.9 cm for females. Fecundity ranged from 44592 to 119942 ova per female for striped sea bream ranging from 15.1 to 20.7 cm total length, and increasing depending on the length, total and gonad weight of fish.
