Abstract
In this study, bioaccumulation of the heavy metals (Fe, Zn, Cd) in the liver, gill and gonad tissues of some fish species (Dicentrarchus labrax, Mugil cephalus and Sparus aurata) in Gaml}k (Yumurtal}k) lagoon were investigated. The samples were collected seasonally between November 2000-December 2001 in the Gaml}k Lagoon (Yumurtal}k,Turkey) east mediterranean coast of Turkey. Wet digest tissues were analysed by atomic absorption flame spectrophotometer (FLAAS) and grafite furnace atomic absorption spectrophotometer (GFAAS) . Heavy metal levels were found generally higher in the liver than the gill and the gonad tissues in three species; the levels of all metals in a given tissue were always higher in Mugil cephalus than Sparus aurata and Dicentrarchus labrax.
