The study aimed to determine the effect of two different trap models on fish catch productivity in Iskenderun Bay. Trap model A (Entrance supported by hoop) and B (Entrance unsupported by hoop) were used.
Research was carried out in Princlik-madenli bight of Iskenderun Bay between 15 th of July and 15 th of November 2001. 40 basket traps daily and 4960 in total were placed in the research area during 124 days. Varying to the trap models, to be belonging to 11 family, 16 fish, 1 shellfish and 1 mollusc species were caught. Total number and weight were 1242 and 317.73 kg. respectively. Fishing effort irrespective of trap models was 0.25% and the highest fishing performance were in August, September and October. Amount of by catch (0.04 kg) and discard (0.07 kg ) were quite low.
