Part 2: Effect of water quantity used for irrigation, and the interval between irrigations
on the fruit diameter, Tree yield, and fruit quality.

Dr. Georges Makhoul
Faculty of Agricultur, Tishreen University, Latakia, Syria.
Tishreen University Journal four studies and scientific researches, 1998.

Absttact

When young Trees were irrigated every Ten days with 75 L water per a tree the following results were obscured and confirmed by statistical analysis.
fruit diameter and average of weight were increased, by 51 mm and 524.9 g respectively compared to 20 mm and 121.8 g respectively in the Control Treatment.
Increasing of fruit soluble solid material, compared to the percentage of dry material (60.9% ) , where it was in the control treatment 45.6 % .
Organic acids (Such as malic acid) reached only 2.3 % of the dry fruit content compared to 2.57 % in the control treatment.
The above results show clearly the role of irrigation on the improvement of fruit quality and orchard yield.
