Abstract

The aim of this work is to evaluate the efficiency of some fungicides on the sclerotia germination and viability of Verticillium dahliae found in the soil. Laboratory experiments were carried out using different concentrations of 4 fungicides in vitro. Carbendazim and hydroxy quinolin were the best preventing sclerotia germination at 0.2 and 2.5 ppm concentrations respectively. Thiophanate methyl and mancozeb were less active giving the same results at the level of 10 ppm for both . Compared with the control the 50% sclerotia in inhibiting concentration values (IG 50) are 0.15, 0.83, 1.66 and 2.63 ppm for Carbendazim, Hydroxy quinolin, Thiophanate methyl and Mancozebe respectively, Field experiments confirmed these results. Sclerotia germination was resumed after the disintegation of Carbendazim and Thiophanate methyl in the soil indicating and inhibiting activity, while Mancozeb showed good lethal action on the sclerotia followed by Hydroxy quinolin where no sclertia germination was noticed later on.
