Comparison of efficacy of some fungicides for the control of apple scabe.

Abstract
The follwing systemic fungicides were evaluated for the control of scab on apple tree :
- Difeniconazole at 0.0038 % ai (commercial Score EC).
- Triflumizole at 0.1667 % ai (Trifmine WP)
- Bitertanole at 0.1000 % ai (Baycor WP)
- Fenarimol at 0.0036 % ai (Rubigan EC)
- Flusilazole at 0.0030 % ai (Punch EC)
The rate are recommended by the manufacturers for practical use. A total of 4 sprays was applied between 20th April and 5th june 1996 in 4 orchards located in the provinces of Idleb, Latakia and Tartous. Score, Trifmine, and Baycor gave good results, their control efficacy ranged between 91.8 - 95.9 %for the leaves infection, and 82.2 - 89.2% for fruit infection compared with the unsprayed trees, while the efficacy of Fenarimol was 59.3% and 18.0 % for leaves and fruit infection respectively, Fenarimol which has been in use for over than 15 years, gave poor results which could attributed mainly to the development of ressistance in local strains. Punch was tested in one location only, its efficacy was 65.7 and 88.6 % for leaves and fruit infection respectively.
