Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of weather condition throughout the day on the bioresidual activity of Pirimiphos-ethyl (Pirimicide) through drift spraying technique.

The trials were carried out in 1st August 2001 by using hand-lance attached to Knapsack sprayer (SOL0435) and hand held battery operated Micron-ULVA-Economy. Spray applications were carried out at four different times chosen to represent the day period when spraying is usually done.

The tested spraying equipment's achieved satisfactory biosfficacy against the pinky bollworm at all application times. No clear differences were obtained in infestation percent as concerns equipment type. Hand-lance and Micron-ULVA-Economy techniques seemed to be better than the result of high-pressure gun attached to ordinary motor.

Infestation percents were arranged in descending order at different application times as follow 17, 8, 10 and 12 respectively.

The maximum protection ratio was recorded at 17 o'clock and the minimum protection ratio was recorded at 12 o'clock for accumulative spraying equipment.
