Abstract
Field studies were carried out on soybean at the experimental farm of Agricultural Station in Mallawi (Minia Governorate) and El-Kharga (New Valley) during 2004 and 2005 seasons .These studies were done to evaluate the integrated use of the varietal susceptibility of six soybean cultivars (Clark , Crawford , Giza.82, Giza.35 , Giza.22 and Giza.111) under five sowing dates for resistance to E. zinckenella and yielding potential .Also the role of the combined effects of Agerin (Bacillus thuringiensis )and releases of the local egg-parasitoid. T. evanescens for controlling the cowpea pod worm (CPW), compared with Lannate as recommended insecticide was dealth. Giza 22 was the least susceptible cultivar for CPW and surpassed all tested cultivars in all characters studied. While Giza 82, Clark and Crawford were the most susceptible ones .On the other hand, Giza 35and Giza 111 cultivars were moderately infested. Planting soybean earlier than May 11 or later than May 21 resulted in higher levels of damaged pods and seeds and also resulted in considerable yield reduction. The least infestation percentage of pods ( 1.30 , 1.33 %) and seeds (1.0 , 1.15 %) , the greatest yield of seeds (1952 and 1345 kg /fed.) and yield components characters were achieved with Giza22 variety sown from May 11 to May 21 at Mallawi and El Khagar , respectively. The release of egg parasitoid T. evanescens at rate of 30,000 wasps / fed. combined with Agerin (B.t.) in Giza 22 cultivar planted at May 11- 21 significantly reduced the infested pods with 76.08 and 78.9% and infested seeds with 73.72 and 76.08 % and gave a higher seed yield (2033 , 1452 kg / fed.) at both regions , respectively. The present finding revealed that Giza 22 ; Giza 35 and Giza 111 could be recommended for the two regions, had high yielding and low infestation. |
